The vocal effect on this track is outstanding, it somehow adds an extra element of musicianship to it. The drum beat never becomes overwhelming, the soundscape never distracting you from the main message: “tragic, primitive us”.
The narrative is based around how we may be pulled in different directions by distractions, from ourselves to a lack of purpose. The title could be taken as a positive, how we are still primitive and therefore have time to grow, as well as negative, looking at how we may have not come far at all. The song is exploratory in nature and flows well.
The lyrics are intriguing throughout, “time to practice what you preach” with an added sense of vulnerability that makes it an outstanding work of art.
