Gha9ja
(Gha-Nine-ja) is a Nigerian born, Bolton based musician. His mother is Nigerian and his father is Ghanaian.
When he came across Jamaican singer Jayano, he was influenced to consider afrobeat as his forte instead of rap.
The pair released ‘Kolo’ , a song which gained attention and airplay, which then sparked inspiration for them to form afropop group Afrojam- meaning Africa and Jamaica, a play on both their origins.
The release of ‘Bad Girl’ in 2017, went global, getting them a solid fan base and airplay in the UK and West Africa. They received a nomination at the Ghana Music Awards for Best Video Of The Year.
As a group they have performed alongside international acts such as Kojo Funds, Not3s, Done E, AfroB, Mr Eazi, Stonebwoy and many more.
However the duo split in early 2018, and soon after Gha9ja recorded his first solo single, released as ‘Pull Up’ featuring Big Diamond.
Ghan9ja is making music solo and has a new track out called Oddo, which is full of upbeat, catchy lyrics and has a quirky, laid back style.
It follows the classic Afro-beats style and it’s understandable that he has a great talent for creating internationally adored music.
I would highly recommend keeping him in your radar because he’s got some serious talent.
