Kape Yeel Bring Cynical Humour into New Single, ‘Talk To the Foot’

The Swedish trio, Kape Yeel, has been active on the scene for the past seven years. Having launched their career in the music industry in 2019 with the titles ‘Tatterdemalion’ and ‘Givin in to You, Life’, they have now have a complete EP (‘Reptyle Party S01E07’) released just a year later in 2020, an album released in 2024 titled ‘EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME’. Kape Yeel are still pumping out singles, now as a completely independent band, with the latest released in June and titled ‘Talk To The Foot’, that teases the upcoming release of their second, autumn album that will represent creative progress.

Slowly building their fame and a mischievous, fun reputation across Sweden and Europe, Kape Yeel have found themselves featured across editorial playlists (New Music Friday, Oyster, Indie Highlights amongst many others), they have performed across festival stages such as the German Die Neuen Schweden Festival and Storsjöyran in Sweden that snowballed into radio air time in various countries.

Described as having “raw, unpredictable, socratic, and terse” sound by Comeherefloyd, with a hint of “90s baggy in its beats and gurning bass notes” (Clout Magazine) and a little bit of “Daft Punk, but raucous and horny” as BuffaBlog claims, Kape Yeel bring an entire spectrum of genres into their raucous sounds, with ‘Talk To The Foot’ being no different.

“Driven by a distorted synth bass, breakbeats, and a raw electronic energy, the track feels intense, restless, and just the right amount of irritated” – ‘Talk To The Foot’ takes a cynical approach and unveils the reality we’re living in – loud, vain, distressing. The track’s lyrics are packed with a rather sarcastic attitude that gets stuck in the brain more than the loud, constant noises of society and the instrumentals feel like an auditory equivalent to an energy drink. Scattered, electronic, blurry – it’s the punchy soundtrack to the video game of life we’re all actively playing.

Talk To The Foot’ is a refreshing commentary on the modern culture focused on media and social media that talk loud without substance – instead of taking a dark, solemn approach, Kape Yeel knows exactly how to get the point across through wit and humour: “Talk to the foot, walking away/ Your voice got style but nothing to say/ Talk to the foot, it’s not impressed”. Besides, the vocals and instrumentals are dynamic and witty by themselves, too.

The single has been available for streaming since the 26th of June on most streaming platforms, and Kape Yeel can be followed on both their Facebook: Facebook | Kape Yeel and Instagram: Instagram | @kapeyeel. If you’re a fan of other artists’ style such as RAT BOY’s rebellious energy, Tame Impala’s or Chase Atlantic’s electronic rush, YUNGBLUD’s matched cynicism, you’ll definitely enjoy Kape Yeel’s music. Or if you want to embrace the 90s skater-boy vibe; either way, Kape Yeel will be a good shout.
