‘CHILDREN of the Grave’ was one of his best-known singles, but now Black Sabbath legend Ozzy Osbourne’s legacy is helping children from beyond the grave, through a charity sale of his final artwork.
The stunning oil-on-canvas image – entitled ‘Prince of Darkness’ – was presented to the superstar rocker and wife Sharon* by leading UK artist Mason Newman at the recent Villa Park farewell show and is thought to be one of the last, if not the final artwork he received.
To honour Ozzy’s legacy, Birmingham-born Newman – who also designed Black Sabbath’s gig merchandise – has released an ultra-limited-edition print, a copy of the original, to be sold to the public, with all proceeds supporting the metal frontman’s favourite charities. Just 76 are being offered for sale. The number 76 deliberately coincides with Ozzy’s age at the time of his passing.
The sale through Brighton’s Indelible Fine Art gallery will raise money for three causes supported by the late star, including Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Acorns Hospice and Cure Parkinson’s, in accordance with the Osbourne family’s wishes.
The announcement coincides with the airing of eagerly anticipated documentaries which air on BBC (Coming Home) and Paramount+ (No Escape from Now) on 2 and 7 October 2025
The iconic singer was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2019, admitting in a Good Morning America interview that it has been “terribly challenging.”
Newman said: “Ozzy was a global superstar, but he never forgot his Birmingham roots. Everyone who knew him was touched by his generosity and huge heart. This was the very last piece of art he commissioned, so it’s a fitting tribute that these prints will keep on giving to local people and others in need around the UK too.”
Just 76 six-layer silkscreen prints with gold leaf detail, of the striking artwork will be produced, making them among the world’s most sought-after collectibles. Each piece will be £850 and is size 70 x 86cm and feature hand-torn edges.
Dan Marsh, director, Indelible Fine Art added: “These ultra-limited prints are a piece of rock history and we expect them to sell out within moments.”
A self-taught British artist and designer known for his provocative, satirical work blending fine art, fashion, and cultural commentary, Newman left school at 16 and launched a streetwear label with a £200 loan from his grandfather, which evolved into Mason Newman Studios.
Renowned for his close links to the Midlands community where he grew up, in 2024 Newman was a Forbes “30 Under 30” nominee and served as Creative Director for Madonna’s Material Girl brand.
Appointed the official artist for Black Sabbath at the start of 2025, he produced a unique collection launched at Selfridges and has also showcased his work in Monaco and Marbella.
The prints will go on sale from 2 October 2025.
