Interview with band ‘ The Trousers’

What advice would you give to people just starting out in the music industry?

You will have to make choices – remaining yourself and following your own way maybe will lead to staying unsuccessful in a commercial sense but nothing is more valuable than staying true to yourself and making music you like for decades. Thera are other ways, and it’s your responsibility to choose…

What were your musical influences growing up?

The music of the 60’s and 70’s – I think music has never been better than in this era. Beat, psychedelic, blues, hardorck, heavy metal, soul, funk, garage, punk, progressive, you got it all..

Who did you watch at your first ever gig you attended?

Deep Purple with their classic line up in 1988. It was huge.

How did that gig you watched made you feel?

It was significant, but I think that watching the AC/DC movie “Let there be rock” at a cinema at the age of 13 was the real initiation, it blew my mind. There was no way back.

What was the hardest obstacle you had to overcome to get to where you are now in music?

Learning to sing and writing good songs.. It took me years.

What was your best performance?

Maybe supporting Tygers of Pan Tang in 2024, Budapest. It was A moment, pure perfection.

How do you feel about sampling, do you use sampling?

If it’s functional, it’s ok. We sometimes use samples from movies, I think we have had three songs containing excerpts from films.

If you could choose from a historical gig, from any era who would you have seen and why?

I think it would be 1979, AC/DC on Highway to Hell tour with Bon Scott and Unleashed in the East-era Judas Priest as the guest band. It did really happen. Nothing can beat this.

Do you have a moment you could share with the magazine from your previous gigs or recording experiences?

A few years ago we had a chance to support MC5/MC50 in Budapest. It was an amazing experience, not only playing before a band that invented garage rock and punk, but meeting with the man himself, Wayne Kramer, God rest his soul, and also Kim Thayil from Soundgarden and Billy Gould from Faith no More who were in his support band. Magical!

Where and when is your next gig?

There will be two in Budapest in the Spring and one in Ostrava, Czehia

What’s your favourite song and why?

Maybe “Gimme Shelter” by The Rolling Stones. It is beautiful and threatening, with an accord progression and a guitar solo that give you shiver.

Why do you make music?

It’s an obsession since my childhood. Listening to music all the time, and making music when I can. Life without music would be a mistake, as Nietzsche said… I totally agree with that!

Talk us through your song writing process.

It’s interesting because it usually happens the same was for ages. When I have time to calm down, mostly during the summertime, I write an entire album without leftovers within 2 months. Between these periods I don’t compose. I need new bands of genres to discover and also to process my personal experiences.

If you could offer one small bit of advice for your past self what would you say?

Be brave and try to take all the chances you have, you got nothing to lose! Citing Lemmy: Born to lose, live to win!
