What’s your ‘go to’ train playlist?

Dear Young Professionals,

whether you’re a commuter, part time adventurer or travelling enthusiast, we are intrigued to know what your go to playlist is on a train?

The one that blocks the world out, the one that just helps your thoughts and worries fade away or perhaps gives you that drive to continue the day?

Artists are making music for radio, festivals, films and fame, have they considered a key audience those ‘train people’, the every day commuter, people who need a little audio to boost their every day mundane travel.

The ones who dwell in the cities, no parking spaces outside their flats, their whole road pedestrianised anyway. They’re forced in to a world of railcard fuelled adventures, monthly travel passes to get to their work place or at least near enough.

Now are we all looking for songs that pass the time, or are we more entwined in complimenting that blur of passing towns and cities out the windows?

We’d strongly suggest downloading your music before you even set foot on public transport as the signal on them can be varied, somewhat non existent. If you are longing to add depth to your every day what would you listen to?

What would set you up for the day, what encouragement do you need at eight in the morning?

These are our top picks below-

Hozier – now trending the charts with his hit single Too Sweet

The gradual warm up with his comforting and gentle vocals followed by a bit of oomph to wake you up from your travelling nap.

What about if you’re in the mood for an empowering day , are you planning a bit of a power move in the office? Why not listen to the likes of Taylor Swift, Olivier Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter. These female pop icons will certainly set you up for the day, especially for your big presentation you’ve been up all night worrying about.

If you wake up in the mood to fight back, life’s got you down and you’re feeling a great level of anger and resentment to where you’re at, both physically and literally…

Have a listen to something heavier, try an alternative playlist, introduce it with Biffy Clyro, followed by Frank Carter, IDLES then ease back out with someone like Avril Lavigne for a touch of nostalgia and empowerment.

What about if it’s raining and you got absolutely soaked from your home to the train station, they’d sold out of your overpriced pastry at the stand you always go to.

You’ll be after the thought provoking but not too in your face playlist, try an indie playlist with artists such as The last Dinner Party, Blossoms, Tom Walker or Noah Kahan.

You can create your own playlists or draw inspiration from current offers via all music download / streaming services.
